arbitrary aesthetics is a Helsinki-based design brand founded by a Finnish-Chinese duo of architects and parametric designers. Our products promote a futuristic and eco-friendly lifestyle, that aims to elevate well-being through design.

aa’s design philosophy

Our journey starts from a shared love for art, modern design and architecture, as well as a strong passion for innovation, algorithms and science.

As designers, we draw inspiration from intricate natural patterns, rich cultural heritages, and local craftsmanship, as well as the minimalist elegance of Scandinavian design. Guided by a philosophy of reimagining the ordinary, we explore impactful design solutions at every scale, demonstrating how even small interventions can create meaningful change. By pushing the boundaries of everyday items, we aim to uplift well-being and transform daily life through thoughtful, sustainable design.

aa’s digital craftsmanship

We implement computational design automation in our product design and manufacture process. Our goal is to bring imaginative concepts to life while prioritizing the well-being of our vulnerable environment. To achieve the goal, we use advanced parametric design methods and additive manufacturing technology. We use eco-friendly materials, such as degradable bio-plastic PLA derived from cornstarch. Thanks to the nature of additive 3D printing technology, our manufacture process minimizes all possible waste. Moreover, 3D printing grands us freedom to produce complex geometries that would otherwise not be possible to create traditionally.

Every piece we design is both visually stunning and pumped with fun background stories. We infuse artistry into everyday living while ensuring that each creation is high-quality and durable.
